Foxcroft & Ginger, 3 Berwick Street, Soho W1F ODR

Monmouth coffee prepared on a Synesso machine, delicious food & laid back music, all a step away from bustling Soho, this deli-lounge really hits the spot.
Upstairs, large windows look out onto the street market and the food is enticingly lined up on the counter top. Forget your usual soggy paninis, the food here is refreshingly different. I tried a vege burger and it was melt-in-the-mouth delicious.
A nice touch was the water served in old milk bottles to go with our meal. My latte, served in a glass with vintage china saucer, was topped with delicate latte art and slipped down a treat.
Seating is limited upstairs, but head downstairs for a brilliant place to chill out. Choose between a battered leather chair, comfy sofa or bench seat. There’s even a couple of leather vaulting horses you can sit at. With wooden floors, exposed ceiling and suspended lights hanging from bright orange flexes I could have stayed here all afternoon. The music is laid-back, service is friendly and they’ve even got an alcohol licence.

The Fig Tree Coffee Lounge & Tea Room, Christique, West St, Dorking RH4 1BL

A smashing little coffee lounge with beautiful courtyard garden, complete with real fig tree!
I discovered this little gem when wandering through Dorking’s antique shops. The coffee lounge is tucked away at the rear of Christiques and not obvious from the road. Inside is clean and bright with round cream tables and wicker chairs, but the real find is the little courtyard open out the back in fine weather. The tables are surrounded by potted plants and trees, with glimpses of old statues through the leaves and vintage enamelled signs on the walls. Hanging baskets add colour and the whole courtyard seems cocooned in greenery from the world outside.
The Fig Tree offers Miko Fair Trade Columbian coffee and my cappuccino was hot and fairly strong which suits me fine.
Lunch is served from Tuesday to Saturday together with a range of delicious-looking cakes.
Definitely worth a visit!
